How does Ovulation Induction and cycle monitoring work?
Ovulation induction is a simple, safe and non-invasive procedure suitable for women with irregular or no ovulation. The fertility specialist records all relevant data’s regarding the menstrual cycle before finalizing on the treatment modality. Blood samples are taken to measure the hormone levels followed by a trans-vaginal ultrasound to assess the development of follicles in the ovaries, and the thickness and appearance of the endometrium (inner lining of the womb).
Based on the blood test and ultrasound scanning reports, the Ovulation Induction cycle is initiated. Ovulation stimulation medications are administered to stimulate the ovaries to encourage more follicle maturation. Simultaneously, ultrasound scans are performed to observe the maturity and release of egg during the ovulation phase. A mature egg is viable for approximately 24 hours. When an egg is released from the ovary, they are captured by the finger like projections of the fallopian tube and enter the tube and waits for the sperms to reach the egg. If the sperms are already available inside the fallopian tube, this increases the chances of conception. As soon as the egg reaches the tube, one in millions of sperms manage to fuse and fertilize the egg to form an embryo. If the male partner has an infertility issue, the specialist performs an intrauterine insemination process to encourage the fertilization of the egg and sperm.
